Frequently Asked Questions

Does in-state tuition apply to all online students?

Yes — regardless of where you live. Undergraduate online students pay $389 per credit hour; graduate students pay $532. No Mississippi residency required. Use the tuition calculator above to estimate your semester cost.

What fees do online students pay?

A technology fee and distance education fee per credit hour. Campus fees — athletics, health services, parking — don't apply to fully online students. The full schedule is at the MSU Controller's Office.

Are payment plans available?

Yes. MSU divides your semester balance into 5 monthly auto-draft payments through Nelnet Business Solutions. There's a $75 non-refundable enrollment fee. You sign up through QuikPAY in your myState portal at the start of each term.

Can I transfer credits into a CPCS program?

Yes. CPCS accepts transfer credits from regionally accredited institutions. Several programs are built around AAS and AS transfer pathways. Military and professional experience may qualify for credit for prior learning. An enrollment specialist can look at your transcript and tell you exactly what counts.

Does CPCS accept military education benefits?

Yes. Mississippi State is a Yellow Ribbon institution. GI Bill benefits, MyCAA, and active-duty tuition assistance all apply. The MASOL program has a Military Concentration designed around the leadership experience service members bring in.

How much can I save by choosing an online program over on-campus?

Online students pay the same per-credit rate as Mississippi in-state students — with no campus fees for housing, parking, or athletics on top. For working adults who are already employed and living where they live, the math works out well. Same MSU degree, same faculty, none of the overhead.

What types of financial aid are available to online students?

Online students have access to the same aid as on-campus students:

  • Federal Aid — Pell Grants and federal loans via the FAFSA
  • MSU Scholarships — university and college-level merit awards
  • Military Benefits — GI Bill, MyCAA, and tuition assistance
  • Employer Tuition Assistance — many CPCS students are partially or fully reimbursed by their employer
  • Payment Plans — 5-month installment plans through Nelnet
