Frequently Asked Questions

Apply your experience to earn an advanced degree.

Do I need an Associate of Applied Science to apply?

Yes. The BAS is designed for students who have completed an AAS or AAT degree from an accredited institution. Not sure if your degree qualifies? Contact our team and we'll tell you exactly where you stand.

Will my technical credits transfer?

In most cases, yes. The BAS is specifically designed to accept technical credits from community college programs — something most traditional bachelor's programs won't do. You can transfer up to 60 credit hours, including up to 45 technical credit hours.

How long will it take to finish?

Most students who transfer in 60 credit hours finish in four to five semesters. Courses run in 8-week terms, and most working adults take one to two courses per semester alongside full-time work and family responsibilities.

How is this different from a traditional business degree?

The BAS in Organizational Leadership is built for working adults who already have technical training and real experience. The curriculum builds directly on what you know and prepares you for leadership roles in the organizations where you already work — not a traditional business administration model.

Can BAS courses count toward a master's degree?

Yes. Up to 9 credit hours from the BAS in Organizational Leadership can count toward the Master of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership at Mississippi State — giving you a head start on graduate school if you choose to continue.

Does employer tuition assistance apply?

Yes. Many BAS students use employer tuition assistance or reimbursement to cover part or all of their degree cost. Check with your HR department — and if you need help making the case to your employer, our enrollment team can help.

How do I apply?

Apply at https://www.cpcs.msstate.edu/apply-now. You'll need official transcripts from all previously attended institutions. Military students should also submit a Joint Services Transcript or CCAF transcript. The undergraduate application fee is $50 for domestic applicants.
