Online students in CPCS's organizational leadership programs are Mississippi State students — same Bulldog identity, same campus resources, same graduation ceremony. Distance doesn't change that.
A common assumption about online programs: you earn the credential but miss the college experience. For CPCS students at Mississippi State, that's not how it works. Online enrollment gives you access to MSU's full academic support infrastructure, career services, and — when you're ready — a seat in the arena at commencement in Starkville.
Do Online Students Get to Walk at Graduation at Mississippi State?
For many CPCS students — working adults who've been building toward this credential for years — walking at graduation means something. It's not a formality. It's the moment the degree becomes real, and it happens on the same campus where MSU's 150-year history lives.
MSU Campus Resources Available to CPCS Distance Students
MSU Career Center
Resume reviews, job search coaching, employer connections, and interview prep — all available to enrolled CPCS students regardless of location. Access is online; the value is the same.
MSU Libraries
Full access to MSU's research databases, interlibrary loan, and digital collections. CPCS students doing graduate research in MASOL have the same library access as students in Starkville.
Student Counseling Services
MSU offers counseling and wellness support to enrolled students. Distance students can access these services virtually.
MSU Writing Center
Online tutoring and writing support available to all MSU students. Useful for MASOL students working on research projects or capstone writing.
Disability Resource Center
Accommodation support for students with documented disabilities applies to online coursework as well as in-person. CPCS students follow the same process through the DRC.
Center for America's Veterans
Veterans and military-connected CPCS students can access MSU's veterans support services, certifying officials, and community resources.
Community Inside CPCS Programs
CPCS's organizational leadership programs are cohort-structured in design. You're not taking courses in isolation — you're moving through a curriculum with peers who are at similar career stages, dealing with similar leadership challenges, and showing up to the same class sessions.
That structure is deliberate. The MASOL and ALC programs in particular draw students from across industries — government, healthcare, military, manufacturing, nonprofit — and the peer learning that happens across those contexts is part of the program's value. Class discussions about organizational culture hit differently when half the room is managing teams right now.
For undergraduates in the BAS in Organizational Leadership, CPCS's academic advisors and faculty maintain active contact with students throughout their program. You're not anonymous in a course catalog — you're known by name to faculty who work specifically in applied leadership.
Staying Connected to the Starkville Campus
Beyond graduation, CPCS students have practical reasons to visit campus. Some students in hybrid or HyFlex sections attend periodic in-person intensives. Others visit for advising appointments, research meetings with faculty, or career events. MSU's campus is open to enrolled students, and CPCS faculty are accessible to distance students who want to build that relationship in person.
CPCS is physically housed in Starkville with the rest of Mississippi State. When you contact your program coordinator, advisor, or faculty member, you're talking to someone on campus — not a remote support line.
Online Student Community Questions
Yes. Admitted students receive an MSU NetID and email, access to the myState portal, Canvas LMS, and MSU library systems — the same as any enrolled student.
Enrolled students can purchase tickets to MSU athletic events. Distance students visiting campus for any reason are welcome to attend games.
CPCS graduates are Mississippi State alumni. The MSU Alumni Association includes graduates from all colleges and programs, online and in-person.
You'll receive commencement information with your graduation application. CPCS coordinates with the university on ceremony logistics. The event takes place at Humphrey Coliseum. Your name is called; you cross the stage.
What Connects CPCS Students Isn't a Zip Code
The students who thrive in CPCS's organizational leadership programs share something more useful than proximity: they're working professionals with real leadership responsibilities, and they're studying with others in the same position. The distance format is a practical reality for people with jobs and families. The community that forms around the coursework is genuine.
You finish as a Mississippi State graduate with a credential from a program built specifically for people who took the longer, harder path to get here.
