What the ALC is — and who it's for
The Applied Leadership Certificate is a graduate-level credential for professionals who want to lead better — right now. It's not a two-year commitment. It's four courses, one semester, and a framework you'll use in your first week back at work.
The curriculum is built on the Extreme Ownership framework developed by Echelon Front. If you're already in the MASOL program, you can earn the ALC through courses you're already taking — at no additional cost.

The ALC curriculum is developed in partnership with Echelon Front — the leadership organization founded by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin, Navy SEALs and authors of the #1 New York Times bestseller Extreme Ownership. The principles in that book were tested in combat and proven in some of the most demanding organizational environments in the world.
The ALC translates those principles into a graduate-level academic framework — rigorous enough to earn MSU credit, practical enough to apply immediately.

How long does it take to complete? ⌄
Four courses — typically completed in one semester (16 weeks). The program is designed for working adults and built around 8-week terms, so you have flexibility in how you sequence the courses.
What does it cost? ⌄
The ALC is 12 credit hours at $532 per credit hour — approximately $6,384 total. If you're already enrolled in the MASOL, you can earn the ALC through courses you're already taking at no additional tuition cost.
Do I need a specific undergraduate background? ⌄
No. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required — any major. The ALC welcomes professionals from business, education, healthcare, military, public service, and any other field.
Can the ALC stack into the MASOL? ⌄
Yes. All four ALC courses count toward the Master of Applied Science in Organizational Leadership. If you earn the ALC and later enroll in the MASOL, your coursework transfers — you're not starting over.
What are the admission requirements? ⌄
A bachelor's degree with a 2.75+ undergraduate GPA or 3.0+ graduate GPA. Provisional admission is available if your GPA falls below that threshold. Application fee is $60 for domestic applicants.
When can I start? ⌄
The ALC admits students each semester — Fall (August 1 deadline), Spring (December 1 deadline), and Summer (May 15 deadline). Apply early to allow time for transcript review.
