No. The MAS in Organizational Leadership accepts any accredited bachelor's degree, regardless of your undergraduate field of study. You do not need a business degree, a management background, or prior formal leadership training. The program is specifically designed to give you the framework and credentials you haven't had yet. If you have a 2.75 or higher undergraduate GPA, or a 3.0 or higher from any prior graduate work, you meet the academic requirement. The four concentrations are built around where you already work or where you want to go next.

Think about the sector where you work now or the one you want to move into. Military is designed for active-duty personnel, veterans, defense contractors, and government employees. Non-Profit is built for mission-driven professionals in education, healthcare, and community organizations. Public Management prepares you for leadership in government, public administration, and civic roles. Sports is for athletic administrators, coaches, facility managers, and those pursuing careers in sport business. The program is 30 credit hours total. Courses run in 8-week terms with multiple start points each year, including fall, spring, and summer. Most working adults take one or two courses per term alongside full-time work and family responsibilities. At two courses per term, you can finish in approximately 12 to 15 months. At one course per term, plan for around two years. There is no required pace, so you set the timeline that fits your life.

Yes. The four Applied Leadership Certificate courses — PCS 6343, PCS 6323, PCS 6313, and PCS 6333 — are all part of the MAS curriculum. Two of them are required core courses and two count as concentration electives. If you've already completed the certificate, you're not repeating work. Those credits apply directly into the MAS and reduce how much remains to finish your master's degree.

Yes. Up to 9 credit hours from the BAS in Organizational Leadership at Mississippi State can count toward the MAS. This is one of the reasons the BAS and MAS are designed as a connected pathway. If you're currently in the BAS program and thinking ahead, talk to your advisor now about which courses to take to maximize the credits that carry forward.

Provisional admission is available for applicants who do not meet the standard GPA requirement. The admissions team looks at the full picture, including professional experience, career trajectory, and any prior graduate coursework. A GPA from ten or twenty years ago doesn't define what you're capable of now. Contact our enrollment team before assuming you don't qualify — the conversation is worth having.

Yes to both. Many MAS students use employer tuition assistance or reimbursement to cover part or all of their cost. The 8-week term structure means you pay per term rather than all at once, which works well alongside most employer assistance programs. GI Bill benefits and MyCAA also apply.
